Hackers and Founders - Dogpatch Labs, San Francisco

Dog Patch Labs (map)

Selected By: Laura Nelson

Welcome to the summer of Hackers and Founders San Francisco! From June to August we will meet once a month and hope to continue the tradition this fall.

We could use a few volunteers:

We could use a few volunteers to show up early and stay a bit late to help set up and clean up. If you're interested, email Laura.

Schedule:
The event goes from 6pm to 9pm, and we need to be out the door by 9:30.

Here's how it works.

The Agenda:
It's about hanging out, having a beverage and talking about...

*John McCarthy, Dennie Ritchie or Matz in a full contact cage match. Who wins?
*Erlang, Haskell or Lisp. Which looks better in a bathing suit?
*Hackery in general, startups, shiny technologies we're playing with, recent articles on Hacker News

...among other things.

It's all pretty low key and casual with no scheduled presentations.

The Location:

Dog Patch Labs is on the second floor of the Pier 38 building.

Here's the Google street view of the door you will be going through. A big orange H sign will be posted on the door.

We'll prop this door open, but if the door gets shut for some reason, you won't be able to open it from the outside. So walk into the garage and follow the trail of signs to the other door. You will be lead upward by other offices and through the Dog Patch Labs co-working space to arrive at the (unlabeled) "Pirate Bar."

You've reached the right place when you find people drinking beer with "Hello" name tags on. Think of it as a speakeasy for Hackers and Founders. :) The secret pass phrase is "Where are the geeks and beer?"

What to do when You Get There:

We will have a welcome table with name tags on it, so please put one on. Anyone else wearing a name tag is fair game, so get in there!

The organizers, sponsors and hosts will be wearing special name tags. Feel free to introduce yourself to any one of us.

Thanks:

A very special thanks to David Hegarty, Founder and CEO of Hollrr.com for making arrangements with Polaris Ventures for us to use the space. He's put in a lot of work on this and we are very grateful.

Future Meetups:
If you can't make it this time, we plan to host regularly scheduled SF meetups this fall, probably every 4-6 weeks. Or you can always come down the peninsula to Hackers and Founders Mountain View which meets about every two weeks.

See you there!
