I'm bootstrapping a company that brings e-commerce and social networking to the real world for the entertainment and hospitality industries. We help entertainment venues sell stuff, and we help their customers have more fun.

I try to stay focused on the intersection of tech with the real world - where tech is an enabler, not a solution. To that end, i'm psyched by the reliability of much of the equipment we get to use today, and any small form factor wireless device.

Great meetup. I think holding it at for-pay venues where people can buy their own food and drinks is fine, by the way... especially if there is a happy hour. Most people can buy a $3 beer. Suggestion- how about inviting some of the companies that come around recruiting, to buy a round of (whatever) in exchange for 5 minutes to address everyone toward the peak attendance period of the event (7-8pm) ? I wouldn't mind that. Not sure if it's in 'the spirit' of a Meetup, but i think it fairly well serves the needs of many who are present.
